WHERE TO STAY:
🏨 We stayed in Peurto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island - there are other islands you can visit but I’ll talk about Santa Cruz today! We stayed at Captain Max B&B - perfect for what we needed!

HOW TO GET AROUND:
🚕 The main way to get around the island is by taxi, bike, or guided tour. To get between the islands you’ll take ferries and water taxis!

HOW MUCH TO BUDGET FOR:
💸 I will admit, this is not the most budget-friendly destination, and I’d budget at least 150-200$ per day per person, all included depending on your choice of activities!

BEST TIME TO VISIT:
📆 It depends on what you want to do/see as the wildlife and nature fluctuate with the seasons - the hot and rainy season is roughly from January to June!

WHERE TO EAT:

WHAT TO DO:
🤿 Scuba diving and snorkeling
🐢 Visit a tortoise sanctuary
⛰️ Tour of the highlands
🔎 Stop by Charles Darwin Station
🌊 Hang out at the beach
🏝️ Explore the other islands

HOW LONG TO STAY:
⏰ We stayed for a week and it was the perfect amount of time - depending on your budget or how much you want to do, you can stay longer or shorter. Because it’s isolated and takes time to get to, I’d recommend staying at least 3 full days.

WORTH IT:
✅ Absolutely! The wildlife was incredible, the people were so friendly, and it’s one of the most unique experiences we’ve ever had!

(Save for later) How to spend 1 day in Quito 🇪🇨

One day is definitely not enough time in the capital city of Ecuador, I’d recommend staying 2-3 days because there are so many great day trips but here is how you can spend one of those days in the city:

⛪️ You can’t skip the Basilica del Voto Nacional - it’s really beautiful, and the climb up to the rooftop is so worth it - even if it’s slightly terrifying! It only costs 2$!

☕️ Grab a snack and a hot chocolate at @humachocolate as you walk through the historic centre

💛 Visit other beautiful ancient churches like La Compañìa de Jesús (it has a gold interiror)

🛍️ Wander around some important plazas like Plaza de la Independencia

📸 Grab some photos on the iconic la Calle de la Ronda

🚠 Finish the day riding the TelefériQo cable car up to the mountains next to Quito - I’d plan to spend some time here, there are lots of trails and things to see so don’t rush it! Plus the views are just incredible!
